TRENDING || Skeletal Remains Of A Year Old Found – Mother Suspect
The skeletal remains of 14-year-old Jason Phiri, who had been missing for several months, have been found in Sinda District. His mother and older brother have been arrested in connection with his death.
Jason lived with his 56-year-old mother, Deliya Mwale, and 30-year-old brother, Moses Phiri. He went missing between February and March 2025 after returning home from work as a herd boy.
His employer, Aliness Banda, was concerned when he didn’t show up for work the next day. When asked, the family claimed Jason had traveled to Mozambique.
For months, the disappearance went unreported until Jason’s uncle, Charles Mwale, traveled from Lusaka and pressured the family. He later took them to the police, where a missing person report was finally filed.
Jason’s remains — including a skull, ribs, and torn jeans — were discovered by a villager, Mathews Sakala. Police say the delay in reporting and the family’s suspicious behavior led to the arrest of the mother and brother, who are now in custody.
Police also said the arrests were to protect them from an angry mob. The remains have been given to the family for burial, but the grave will be marked in case further investigation is needed.
