The case, which had garnered significant attention, culminated in Magistrate Mutinta Mwenya‘s ruling that the evidence presented by the prosecution did not meet the stringent standards required to prove a sexual offence in criminal matters.
Magistrate Mwenya emphasized that the burden of proof in such cases is high and the prosecution’s failure to provide compelling evidence resulted in Simwanza‘s acquittal.
The verdict brought an end to a distressing period for Simwanza, who had maintained his innocence throughout the proceedings.
